Counseling

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as an Educator, and Speaker.  I believe I have manifested a vital presence in Redondo Beach and the South Bay for over 20 years.   My private practice includes Counseling individuals, families, couples, and Anger Management with groups, and individuals.  As far as counseling theory, I am eclectic, combining what I consider the most helpful parts of several different counseling theories.  I do have a sliding scale for clients who truly have a need for a reduced fee.  I have deep empathy for my clients.  Entering therapy is not always easy.  I emphasize practical counseling and empowerment.   See my page on Counseling to see more about my style.

Speaking

I am frequently invited to lecture and lead adult seminars on anger management throughout Redondo Beach and the South Bay.  I have spoken at clubs, churches, schools and other organizations. 

Educational Experience

I have instructed at Antioch University, California State University at Dominguez Hills, University of Phoenix, Cuesta College, Springfield College, and West Coast College.  I was a "fixture" at Torrance Adult School for over 11 years--always focusing on helping students fulfill their life's promise. 

Writing

I have written columns for the Torrance Daily Breeze, Santa Monica Evening Outlook, San Pedro News Pilot, and the Morro Bay Sun-Bulletin.  I have written and edited hundreds of articles.  I love to write!  See my column and my new blog at The Musings of Diana Brennen on Blogger for my most recent endeavors. 

Degrees and Stuff

I have a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from California State University, a Master of Education from Boston College,  a Community College Teaching Certificate from California State University Dominguez Hills, and am a Diplomate of the American Association of Anger Management Providers.  In addition, I have been a  certified Anger Management Specialist since 2002--my training was from the gold standard of Anger Management Training, Anderson and Anderson.  I am on the Los Angeles Superior Court's preferred list for court-ordered anger management counseling.  I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 20 years.

I believe in my clients.  I am pretty down-to-earth and practical.  My focus is always on your personal journey toward your greatest growth and self-empowerment.
